Privacy Policy
Last updated: 7 April 2026. This page explains how YASS! (“we”, “us”) handles information when you use our website and services. We have written it in plain English. It is not legal advice for you or for us — if you need advice about your own situation, speak to a qualified professional.
In short
- Adults only. YASS! is for people aged 18 and over. Do not use the service if you are under 18.
- We run the product. We use service providers to host the app, sign you in, store data, send email, and understand how the product is used — including when you browse without an account.
- Anonymous visitors. We record certain activity (for example which pages are viewed) when you are not signed in, using technical data such as a temporary session identifier in your browser, the page address, and general device or browser information. This helps us improve the product and measure campaigns.
- Signed-in members. We process what you add to your profile, your messages, meets, and similar account activity so we can run the service.
- We do not sell your personal information as a product. We share data with suppliers who help us run YASS!, as described below.
- You have privacy rights. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your information, object to certain processing, or complain to a regulator. See “Your rights” below.
Who we are
YASS! is operated from the United Kingdom. If you have questions about this policy or how we use data, contact us using the details at the end of this page.
Age: 18 and over only
The service is intended only for adults aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has given us personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
Information we collect
Account and sign-in
To create and secure your account we process your email address and authentication information. Sign-in is handled through our authentication provider (see “Service providers”).
Profile and preferences
If you add profile details — such as display name, bio, photo, age range, pronouns, orientation, places or activities — we store what you choose to provide so you can use YASS! as a social and activity-matching service. You may also have preferences such as marketing email opt-in where we offer it.
How you use YASS! (meets, chats, availability)
We process information you generate when you use features such as chats, group discussions, meets, availability, and related actions. That can include message content, read receipts or similar signals where the product supports them, and metadata needed to run those features.
Analytics when you browse without signing in (“anonymous” or unauthenticated visitors)
We allow tracking of visitors who are not logged in. This helps us understand which public pages are viewed, how people find us (for example referrer or campaign links in the address bar), and how the experience behaves on different devices. For this we may collect, among other things: the page or screen you viewed, query parameters on the link, a temporary analytics session identifier stored in your browser (for example in session storage), general device or browser type, and the site or app you came from. This data is not linked to your account until you sign in; if you later sign in, we may associate earlier activity with your account where our systems support it so we can understand the full journey.
Analytics when you are signed in
When you use YASS! while logged in, we may record product usage events (such as page views and feature interactions) together with your account identifier and similar technical context. Before you complete sign-up, we may also record events tied to your email address (for example when you request a login code) so we can understand sign-up and fix issues.
We send service-related emails (such as sign-in codes, notifications about activity on your account, or important notices). Our email provider may log delivery and engagement events (for example whether a message was delivered or opened) for reliability and diagnostics. If we send optional marketing emails where the law requires consent, we will only do so in line with your choices.
Safety and feedback
If you report content or submit feedback, we process the information you provide so we can review the issue and improve the service.
Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies as needed to keep you signed in, protect the service, remember preferences, and run analytics as described above. You can control cookies through your browser settings; blocking some cookies may mean parts of the site do not work as expected.
How we use your information
We use information to:
- Provide, operate, and improve YASS!;
- Authenticate you and keep your account secure;
- Show your profile and activity to others in line with how the product works;
- Operate chats, meets, and related features, including safety and abuse prevention;
- Measure and improve performance, understand usage patterns, and evaluate marketing (including anonymous visitor analytics);
- Send transactional messages and, where you have opted in, marketing;
- Meet legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.
Depending on the situation, we rely on appropriate legal bases under UK GDPR (such as performing our contract with you, legitimate interests in running a secure service and improving it, or consent where required).
Service providers and sharing
We use trusted suppliers to help us run YASS!. They may process personal information only on our instructions and for the purposes above. They include:
- Supabase — hosts our application database and related infrastructure, powers authentication, and may store files you upload (such as profile images). We describe storage as hosted on Supabase rather than naming specific database technologies.
- Vercel — hosts and runs our web application.
- Brevo (or another email provider we use) — sends email on our behalf and provides delivery and engagement statistics.
We may also share information if we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law, to protect the rights and safety of our users or the public, or in connection with a business transfer (for example a merger), subject to applicable law.
International transfers
Some of our suppliers may process data in countries outside the United Kingdom. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum, or other mechanisms approved under UK law).
Retention
We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes above — for example while your account is active, to comply with law, or to resolve disputes. If you delete your account or we delete it (for example after a long period of inactivity where we give you notice), we remove or anonymise personal information in line with our processes, subject to limited retention where the law requires or where data is aggregated or de-identified.
Security
We use technical and organisational measures designed to protect your information. No online service can guarantee perfect security; please use a strong, unique password where applicable and protect your sign-in methods.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you may have the right to request access, correction, or deletion of your personal information; to restrict or object to certain processing; to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent; and to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) in the UK (ico.org.uk). To exercise rights, contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
Changes to this policy
We may update this page from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top. If changes are significant, we may provide a more prominent notice or ask you to accept updated terms where appropriate.
